Today we're talking with designer yamagara (Bernice) about her contribution to Issue 23, the understated Moulins pullover with its textured stripes and ruffle accents.
yamagara: Amelie's feminine, quirky and chic style, together with the tenderness and theme colours of the movie inspired me to create a design that captures some of the characteristics of the movie.
yamagara: Green, which is the other theme colour in the movie.
yamagara: Various knitters around the world who put up basic knitting tutorials online taught me how to knit. I put what I learned into practice by knitting scarves and hats for my family's first winter holiday in Japan. Soon I was making garments, mainly from Japanese knitting books.
yamagara: I tend to watch documentary films, I guess they're my favourite. I like heartwarming movies too, but not quite the romance genre.

さて、今回はギャザーの入ったストライプ模様がおしゃれなMoulinsをデザインしたyamagaraさんにお話を伺います。
amirisu: このデザインのインスピレーションはどこから得ましたか？
yamagara: アメリのフェミニンかつ風変わりでシックなスタイルと、映画の優しさとテーマカラーにインスパイアされ、映画の特徴をいくつか捉えたデザインを思いつきました。
yamagara: ドキュメンタリー映画を観ることが多く、好きなんだと思います。心温まる映画も好きですが、ロマンチック過ぎないものがいいですね。
amirisu: 普段の生活では、いつどこで編み物をすることが多いですか？
yamagara: 昼も夜も編みます！たいていは家のリビングで、ソファの近くの仕事机で編んでいます。
