Featured: Summer in Norway by Astrid Troland for Biches & Buches

We've had a beautiful cherry blossom season in Japan this year, and now Spring has officially arrived, and we are enjoying the nature in full bloom. The weather has been getting warmer, but still it can be a little chilly in the mornings and at the end of the day. So I have been craving for a lighter sweater, and Summer in Norway might be the perfect choice! We have asked some questions to Astrid Troland, who is the designer of this beautiful sweater, and also the owner of the yarn brand Biches& Buches, which is used for this garment. So, let us introduce you to the lovely Astrid.

amirisu: Where did you get the inspiration for this design?

Astrid: I visited Tokyo and Kyoto some years ago and I was really amazed by this experience. When I think about Japan and Japanese style, there are two words that come to my mind : romantism and simplicity – simple lines. With Summer in Norway, I have tried to combine these – and I find that two very light colors without a big contrast add to the simplicity. Nothing catches the eye more than the rest of the sweater and the overall impression is very soft.

amirisu: If you were to knit with another color, what will it be?

Astrid: For the fall season, I really like to use our grey brown and dark grey brown – I would use one of these as the main color and then I would have the light grey or beige as a contrast color. On the other hand, a dark grey and light grey version would be very elegant.
Anyways, I hope to see a lot of different color combinations with this design, the whole character of the design changes dramatically with the color choice.

amirisu: What is your favorite way of spending the summer?

Astrid: I like to spend the summer with my family, in the countryside. We may all be busy working on our different projects, but we are together and just have so much fun. It's always when we spend time together that we feel inspired and just get a lof of funny new ideas and discuss them.

Thank you so much Astrid, for answering these questions, and I hope everyone finds their perfect color combination from the beautiful palette of Biches& Buches.
