Have you already seen the latest issue of amirisu? I hope you are enjoying the magazine as we are. From this week, We will be introducing patterns and designers from Issue 14, and the first one is Devon! The beautifully texturized, yet so light and confortable, it is a go-to pullover from the cover.
The designer behind this pattern is Paula Pereira, who lives between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is particularly fond of mathematics and geometry which enables her to design garments with interesting constructions and always in a flattering shape. Some of her latest designs are Ayame from amirisu Issue 13, and Naamah from Quince& Co, both of which are fascinating designs. So, we asked her what the inspiration for Devon was:
Paula: Looking at the amirisu mood board for the issue, the images that resonated and inspired me had harmonic lines that integrates with each other. For Devon, the "lines" were pretty strong on my mind, and started knitting in 1 X 1 twisted rib, which I REALLY love, and everything started from there. I swatched a lot until I figured out how to integrate the increases to the pattern! I was looking for the idea of continuity, lines evolving from each other! The construction and the style came along as the lines created a textured fabric.
amirisu: If you were to knit with another color, what will it be?
Paula: Oh! All of them! I love Brooklyn Tweed Shelter! One of the things that I like most about Shelter, is that we can have a very textured garment, but yet lightweight! But, talking seriously now, I think I will choose the lighter colors, so the textured fabric will show off! Love "Postcard", "Sweatshirt", "Faded Quilt", "Foothills"etc etc...
amirisu: What is your mood for knitting/ designing these days?
Paula: I'm currently working on some lightweight and airy garments for Spring/Summer 2018, two ideas for next Fall and knitting a tiny sweater for our new family member: the most beautiful baby girl. I'm also starting to pack for Rhinebeck!

こんにちは。先月末にリリースしたamirisu14号を楽しんで頂けていますか。今回は掲載作品とデザイナーの方々を毎週紹介していきたいと思います。
第一弾は表紙のデザイン、リブ編み模様が印象的な上に軽くて着やすいDevon！このセーターのデザイナーPaula Pereiraはブラジルのサンパウロとリオデジャネイロの間にある町に住み、数学や幾何が大好きで、それが面白い構造や身体にあったフォルムを生みだすのに役立っています。最近の作品にはamirisu13号のAyameやQuince&co.からリリースされたNaamahなど魅力的な物がたくさん。
amirisu: さて、Paulaにいくつか質問をしてみたいと思います。まずは今回のデザインのインスピレーションは？
Paula: amirisuが提示したイメージボードを見て、まず互いに溶け合うような調和のとれた模様からインスピレーションを受けたの。その中でも“線”が頭の中に印象強く残っていたので、まずは私の大好きなねじり1目ゴム編みで始め、そこから模様を続けながら増目をする方法を見つけるまでスウォッチをたくさん編んだわ。連続性を持ちながら徐々に展開していくような、そんな模様を探していたの。“線”が模様になっていくにつれてセーターの形やスタイルは決まっていったわ。
amirisu: 次に、今回の号はピンク色の特集でしたが、もし違う色で編むなら何色で編んでみたいか聞いてみました。
Paula: Brooklyn TweedのShelterがとても好きなので、どの色でも編んでみたいわ！Shelterを好きな理由の１つは、全面に模様の入った物でも軽く仕上がるから。でも、真剣に色を選ぶとしたら模様が際立つような薄めの色かしら。例えばPostcard、Sweatshirt、Faded Quilt、Foothillsなどなど。
amirisu: そして最後の質問。最近はどんな編み物やデザインをしている？
Paula: 今は2018年春夏用の軽くて空気を含んだような物のデザイン、また来年の秋に向けて２つのアイディアを練っていて、それから、最近家族の仲間入りをした可愛い可愛い女の子の赤ちゃんの為の小さなセーターも編んでいるのよ。来週はラインベックに行く予定なのでそろそろ荷造りもしないと！
