In today's post we are checking in with
Ronja Hakalehto, the designer of Kaiku, the colorwork beanie/toque featured in Issue 25. The pattern is simple and there is only one chart, but playing with color can make it look much more complex! This project would also make for a wonderful winter gift.
amirisu: What was your inspiration for this design?
Ronja: I've had this design in my mind for some time and the theme of this issue matched perfectly with it!
amirisu: What, if any, challenges did you encounter during the design process?
Ronja: The colorwork turned out quite easily but I did make the decreases couple times.
amirisu: If you were to knit this design in another color, what would it be?
Ronja: It would be nice to see the design with some beautiful natural colors.
amirisu: How did you start your knitting journey?
Ronja: I learned to knit at school but truly started knitting over ten years ago when I knitted a beanie for my husband. I've been knitting almost every day ever since!
amirisu: Do you have a favorite museum or work of art? Please tell us a little about it.
Ronja: I love museums! In Finland almost every town has its own local museum which covers local history. They are always so fascinating and I love to time travel and think about how life was back then.

今日ご紹介するのは、かわいい編み込み模様のビーニーをデザインしてくれたRonja Hakalehtoさんのインタビューです。パターンが短くて、チャートも一つだけ！編み方はシンプルなのですが、配色を変えることで複雑な模様に見えます。プレゼントにもおすすめですよ。
amirisu: デザインのインスピレーションはどこから得ましたか？
Ronja: このデザインはこれまでにも時々頭に浮かんでいたのですが、今号のテーマがぴったり合って、ついに形になりました！
amirisu: デザインの過程で、どんな苦労や工夫がありましたか？
Ronja: カラーワークはとても簡単でしたが、数回減目をしました。
amirisu: もう一枚編むとしたら何色で編みますか？
Ronja: きれいなナチュラルカラーで編んだものも見てみたいです！
amirisu: 編み物を始めたきっかけは何でしたか？
Ronja: 学校で習いましたが、本格的に編み始めたのは卒業して10年後、夫のためにビーニーを編んだ時からです。その時からほぼ毎日編んでいます！
amirisu: 好きな美術館や芸術作品はありますか？簡単に紹介してください。
Ronja: 美術館が大好きです。フィンランドには、ほとんど全ての街に地元の歴史を伝えるローカルな美術館があるんです。どの美術館もとても魅力的で、頭の中でタイムトラベルして過去に遡り、当時の生活がどんなだったか想像するのが好きです。
