Today on the blog, we introduce Bernice Lim, the designer behind Luberon from amirisu magazine 16. She lives in the tropical Singapore, and enjoys knitting and designing summer knitwear. So, let's start the interview!
amirisu: Where did you get the inspiration for this design?
Bernice: I got my inspiration for Luberon from Luberon itself :) It’s an area in Provence, France, where beautiful villages, vineyards and orchards made such a strong impression on me after a summer vacation in the area, that I dream of going back again. The elegant style of the holiday house that we stayed in, as well as the landscape, light and mood of summer in the Luberon, inspired this deign.
amirisu: If you were to knit with another color, what will it be?
Bernice: If I were to knit it another colour, it will be Habu Tsumugi’s charcoal grey (colour 3). In fact, I’ve already bought the yarns from amirisushop! Luberon in that special dark grey is in my list of things to knit for myself. What’s fun about knitting Luberon is choosing, among all the pretty colours that come with mohair yarns, the colour to use for the lace inserts. I’m dreaming of a zesty lemon yellow!
amirisu: What is your favorite way of spending the summer, and what do you knit/ or make in the summer time?
Bernice: I live in tropical Singapore. I knit year round, and the climate is summer-like year round, so most of the items that I make for wearing here are summer knits. I love knitting lightweight pullovers, shawls and sweaters with linen, cotton and silk. The drape of fabrics made with these yarns is beautiful. Japan has the best summer yarns in the world, and amirisu’s two wonderful addition, Wanderlust and Parade, confirms this statement. They are my dream come true, a real pleasure to work with. My idea of a perfect summer vacation is looking out for summer yarns in Japan or taking in the beautiful summer light and landscape of the Luberon with a tall glass of cold zesty lemonade.

さて、今日は去年の夏のamirisu16号でとても人気があったLuberonのデザイナー、 Bernice Limをご紹介したいと思います。シンガポール在住で、夏物のニットウェアを編んだりデザインしたりするのが好き！という彼女にこの作品について質問をしてみました。
amirisu: このデザインのインスピレーションはどこから得ましたか？
Bernice: インスピレーションはその名の通りLuberonというフランスのプロヴァンスの地域から得ました。一夏をそこで過ごした時に見た美しい街並みやぶどう園や果樹園はずっと頭に残っていて、いつかまた行きたいと思っています。宿泊していた家のエレガントな佇まいや辺りの風景、夏のLuberonの光や雰囲気からデザインが浮かんできました。
amirisu: 他の色で編むとしたら何色にしますか？
Bernice: Habu Tsumugiのチャコールグレー(#3)で編みたいです。実はすでにamirisuのオンラインショップでこの糸を買いました！この素敵なグレーでLuberonを自分用に編みたいと思っています。そして何が楽しいってレース部分に使うモヘアの色を選ぶこと！だってたくさん可愛い色があるんですもの。私はレモンイエローを使おうかな、と思っています。
amirisu: 夏はどんな過ごし方をするのが好きですか？また、夏には何を編んだり作ったりしますか？
Bernice: 私は常夏のシンガポールに住んでいます。１年中編み物をしますが、ここは１年中夏の気候なので、着たい物を編むと当然どれも夏物になります。薄いプルオーバー、リネンやシルクのショールやセーターを編むのが好きです。このような糸で編んだ編み地はドレープが綺麗に出てとても素敵だと思います。日本には素晴らしい夏糸が世界のどこよりも揃っていると思っていますが、amirisuの素晴らしい WanderlustとParadeが加わって更に魅力的になりました。この2つの糸は私がずっと欲しいな、と思っていた雰囲気の糸で、編んでいてとても気持ちが良いです。
私の理想の夏休みの過ごし方は、日本で夏糸を探してまわること、または Luberonの素晴らしい景色や夏の光を感じながら冷たいレモネードを飲むことかな。
